Healing Is Not a Straight Line — It’s a Sacred Flight "Unity saves lives.

By Rosie Lastra, Founder of Jeremy’s Unity Flight

I used to think healing meant getting “better.” That if I just followed the steps, the right food, the right doctor, the right mindset, I would get there. To peace. To wholeness. To normal.

But then came grief that shattered all timelines. My son Jeremy, so full of light, spirit, and wisdom beyond his years… took flight into eternity.

And suddenly, healing wasn’t something to fix. It was something to feel. To honor. To learn how to live inside of, even when nothing made sense.

What Jeremy Taught Me

Jeremy wasn’t just brilliant, he was spiritually tuned. He loved science, but he lived with soul. And even as he fought for his life, he reminded me:

“Mom, we’re more than this body. Or spirits will be together forever and ever.”

While Jeremy was still with us, we saw a majestic eagle nesting just outside the hospice center, a quiet sign of clarity, strength, and divine presence.

After his passing, a monarch butterfly began to follow me, from Frostproof to Fort Meade, from Tampa to Miami. This butterfly stayed near, a soft and sacred companion that moved with me across each city.

Later, while talking with my cousin, I shared my experience. She paused and said, “Rosie… the same thing happened to me.” She had traveled from the hospice center in Auburndale to her home in Old Town, and a monarch butterfly followed her too.

She even sent me a video. Monarchs were dancing around her feet. Neither of us had known what the other was experiencing, but Jeremy’s presence had shown up for both of us, at the very same time.

These weren’t just coincidences. They were messages. Gentle, undeniable signs that Jeremy was still near.

The Eagle & The Butterfly

To this day, these symbols remind me why I created Jeremy’s Unity Flight:

• The eagle, for strength, medicine, and clarity.

• The butterfly, for softness, soul, and transformation.

Together, they form the foundation of my message: Healing is not either/or, it’s both/and. We need science and spirit. Doctors and devotion. Grief and gratitude.

Let’s Walk (and Fly) Together

If you’ve ever felt like healing is messy, confusing, or nonlinear, you’re not alone.

But what if that chaos is sacred? What if your breakdown is part of your breakthrough? What if your soul knows the way?

This is a place where you don’t have to choose. You can be spiritual and skeptical. Strong and soft. Lost and still called to lead.

You belong here. Let’s fly together.

With love and unity,

"this is the monarch that appeared gently circling my cousin’s feet. A quiet reminder that love never leaves us, it simply takes flight."

“When the World Went Silent, I Heard Jeremy’s Whisper”

There’s a moment in grief when the world goes completely quiet.

Not just the kind of quiet that fills a room, but the kind that wraps around your heart like a fog. After Jeremy passed, I found myself in that stillness, no music, no laughter, not even the birds outside my window were singing that morning. It felt like even the Earth was holding its breath.

At first, the silence was deafening. I wanted to fill it with something, anything. But grief has a way of stripping everything away until all you’re left with is yourself, your memories, and your rawest emotions.

And then something happened.

In that painful quiet, I heard a whisper. It wasn’t loud or dramatic. It didn’t sound like thunder or a voice from the clouds. It was soft. Internal. Sacred.

It said:

“I heard Jeremy's voice, clear as day, speaking to my soul: "Mom, you have to get over this. I'm good, I'm happy. This isn't you. Get your behind out of this and start living again. You’re not alone. I’m still here.”

I sat completely still. Because I knew what I was hearing wasn’t coming from my own mind. It was coming from something higher. It could have been from God, but it sure sounded like Jeremy.

That whisper didn’t take the pain away, but it gave the pain meaning. It reminded me that healing doesn't mean “getting over it.” It means walking with it, guided by the invisible presence of love that never dies.

It was in that silence that I understood something profound:

Grief is a doorway.

Stillness is where the soul speaks.

And love, real love, never disappears. It just changes form.

Since that moment, I’ve stopped trying to fill every silent space. I’ve learned to welcome it. I’ve started asking:

“What am I meant to hear in this pause?”

Sometimes it’s a memory of Jeremy’s laugh.

Sometimes it’s the flutter of butterfly wings or the scent of his cologne when there’s no one else in the room.

Sometimes it’s just peace, the kind that doesn’t make sense in a world full of loss but shows up anyway.

If you’re in that silent space right now…

Don’t rush through it.

Let the whisper come.

It might change everything.

With gentleness and grace,
