WHY JEREMY'S UNITY FLIGHT EXISTS
Jeremy's Unity Flight was born from love.
It was strengthened by faith.
It was refined through suffering.
And it continues today because one life changed thousands.
Jeremy Steven Lastra wasn't simply my son.
He was my greatest teacher.
He taught me about courage long before cancer ever entered our lives.
He taught me how to laugh when circumstances didn't make sense.
He taught me how to love people without conditions.
He taught me what unity looked like.
When Jeremy was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer, our family entered a season we never imagined we would have to walk.
Every appointment.
Every treatment.
Every setback.
Every victory.
Every prayer.
Every tear.
Every miracle.
Every moment became another lesson in faith.
Jeremy fought with extraordinary courage.
He faced uncertainty with remarkable strength.
Even during the hardest moments, he continued bringing people together.
Cancer attacked his body.
It never conquered his spirit.
When Jeremy went home to Heaven on September 15, 2024, my world stopped.
Like so many bereaved parents, I wasn't only grieving my son.
I was grieving the woman I used to be.
The future I imagined.
The dreams I thought we'd share.
The identity I had carried for decades.
I discovered something that very few people talk about.
When a child dies...
A parent often feels like they disappear too.
People know how to comfort your broken heart.
Very few know how to help rebuild your shattered identity.
I searched for that roadmap.
I couldn't find it.
So God began writing one.
Little by little.
Lesson by lesson.
Prayer by prayer.
One directive at a time.
That roadmap eventually became The Soldier's Directive Framework™.
And today...
It has become Jeremy's Unity Flight.
THE YARD SALE THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING
Every organization has an origin story.
Ours didn't begin in an office.
It didn't begin with investors.
It didn't begin with a business plan.
It began in a front yard.
On August 31, 2024, our family organized a community yard sale and raffle to help Jeremy and his family with the financial burden of traveling back and forth for cancer treatments.
It wasn't glamorous.
It wasn't polished.
It wasn't designed to become the beginning of a movement.
It was simply people choosing to love one another.
Family members donated what they could.
Friends showed up early.
Neighbors brought items.
Children helped carry boxes.
Complete strangers stopped by to encourage us.
Some came to shop.
Some came simply to hug us.
Some prayed.
Some cried.
Some laughed with us.
Everyone carried a small part of the burden.
That day changed something inside me.
I realized healing had already begun.
Not because Jeremy was cured.
But because people chose unity over isolation.
That day taught us something we have never forgotten.
No one heals alone.
Healing happens in community.
Healing grows through compassion.
Healing multiplies when people choose to carry one another.
That simple yard sale became the first runway of what would eventually become Jeremy's Unity Flight.
Today, everything we build is still rooted in that same belief.
